Children’s books about love

I Love You Through and Through

This book is so adorably cute. It talks about all the ways someone is loved. From physical attributes like fingers and eyes, which of course then is also a perfect and simple opportunity to practice pointing to those places, to letting them know even if they are happy or sad we love them.

This set below even comes with a matching corresponding teddy bear. So wish I had of seen this before I bought it in the store!!!

I Love You as Big as the World

This was our first and so my ultimate favorite children’s book about love.

It’s so simple in its message but I think it’s also so powerful.

Each page has only one short sentence that conveys the love that is shared by one another.

It is a quick read, which is prefect when their attention span isn’t the longest.  And there’s plenty of opportunity in this book to use voice inflection and miming to engage the child.

P.S. Since I had this one from the start, actually before I delivered, I would read this in the evenings to my little guy before bed. Yes,  🙂 you can read to your belly.

 Baby Love

Now, I know what you’re going to say. My child is a toddler, not a baby anymore.

Well, do they love animals, lifting flaps or ‘reading’ a book to you? Then this one is great to have.

Oh, and sometime we recite it at bedtime, instead of just saying I love you to each other. 🙂

I Love You So

Now, this one and I Love You as Big as the World are very similar to each other but also very, very different.

This one is a little more in-depth, having several sentences on each page.

Great pictures and again the ability to use your voice or miming to get more out of the read.

This book also discusses the idea that even if the child is bad or messy they are still loved.

And fair warning, at the end is a section that makes me cry almost every time I read it. It puts into words the feelings for my child I didn’t know how to express!

On the Night You were Born

Now this one may be for older kids but it’s still perfectly appropriate to read to your baby.

It is a longer read and the pictures aren’t very ‘childish’ but, just like I Love You so.., for me anyway, it helps put my feelings into words to share with my son.

It’s grand and magical and encourages a wonderful imagination.

And there you go.

My list of our favorite children’s books about love.

It’s never too early to share with your child just how much they are loved.

And just in case you’re not a lovey-dovey type of person then these will definitely help, too 🙂

So go, read to your child and share this quality time with them.

Snuggle with them, kiss them and let them know just how truly much they are loved.
