Personal Identification

Whether that be your passport, driver’s license or personal identification you need to always have some form of id on you when you’re traveling.

First Aid Kit Basics

It’s always good to have some bandaids (of different sizes), antibacterial cream and hand sanitizer on you, just in case.

Extra Change of Clothes

Now, this one might sound silly especially if you’re not a parent of little ones but hear me out.

Having a spare change of clothes is a top travel essential.

Always travel with an extra change of clothes!

Why?

If you’re flying you can’t always be guaranteed that your check through luggage will arrive with the plane.

And even if you’re just road tripping or taking a train, what are you going to do if you or someone else spills something on you?

Wouldn’t you rather have something to change into than not?

Just saying 🙂

Cash

I know cash seems almost outdated these days but, depending on where you’re traveling, it may be the best and easiest way to pay for things.

If nothing else, have some on hand to be able to exchange into the local currency for tips and such.

Reusable water bottle

A reusable water bottle is so key when traveling.

You will want and need to stay hydrated while you travel.

If you’re constantly having to find someplace with bottled water you won’t have time to enjoy your activity.

When we’re in the Philippines we get large bottles of water and refill our little water bottles whenever we need to.

A Good and Flexible Attitude

For those of you reading this that are experienced travelers I think you will agree with me on this one!

One reason travel is fun and exciting is that things don’t always go as planned.

And if you don’t have a good and flexible attitude you will simply be miserable your whole trip.

Who wants that?

Understanding that you will need to go with the flow will allow you to really have the best trip ever.

Map

I know, I know.

A map?

I’ll be honest, I’m not sure I remember the last time I used a map when I traveled but if you will need to know where you’re going and/or will need to ask for help as to how to get there a map will be your best friend.

I prefer paper.

Old school won’t run out of juice on you or tell you you don’t have cell service!

Go to your local bookstore and grab a guide book with a map or get online and print out a copy to take with you.

If nothing else you’ll have a good souvenir for your trip 🙂

Contact Information

Do you carry this travel essential?

Whether it be family members’ numbers and addresses, or your lodging phone number and address, you should always have contact information on you in case of an emergency.

Medical Information

Speaking of emergencies.

It’s always good to have your medical information on you too.

Medicines you take, what medicines/foods/smells you might be allergic to, etc.

This is so important, especially if you have a condition that isn’t visible like diabetes or a heart condition.

Camera/Journal

And last but by no means least, some way to document your adventures!

Whether it be taking pictures of your surrounds and the people you shared them with or a journal you can write or draw in of your adventures you’ll be thankful in 20 years that you took the time to document your trips.

And there you have it.

10 travel essentials you can’t forget to pack!
