Do you wish you had some guidance on what is out there and not just hoping you’ll find something great?

I know, for us, we’ve found some great ones!

When to start watching

Well, if you’ve already done any research, you know that professionals suggest waiting until your child is around 2 years old before starting any screen time.

Of course, this will vary between every family, depending on needs and wants.

As for us, I was very determined to wait until my son was 2 until he was allowed to watch any tv, let alone any educational shows.

He actually did see some before he turned 2 because of some travel.

And pretty shortly after that I allowed him to watch more but tried to keep it to only 30 minutes.

At first, he really could have cared less that the tv was on.

The more he watched the more he wanted to watch so be careful 🙂

Luckily for us, we’ve found some great ones!

Enjoy 🙂

Educational Shows for Toddlers and beyond

Sheriff Callie

One of the first shows he was introduced to was Sheriff Callie.

It’s a cute little show about a cat that’s a sheriff.

She has a deputy that’s a woodpecker and his best friend is a cactus. 🙂

They have lots of adventures learning to be nice and be good friends.

Such a good starting point for little ones as they start to understand and learn to navigate new friendships and relationships.

Floogals

First, I have to admit my son still loves to watch this show 🙂

And I don’t mind one single bit!

The show is based on 3 tiny space explorers, Floogals, who have landed with an unknowing family.

They don’t understand Earth’s customs or even just what things might be.

Each episode is about them learning one new thing about this new world they’ve landed on.

For example, they learn about ice, connect-the-dot sheets, and American holidays.

Animal Mechanicals

This show was introduced to us through my son’s preschool.

He came home talking about these characters and asking to see if we could find it on tv.

We looked and found it without any problem.

It revolves around 5 animals that are actually robots and have individual skills.

They work together to solve problems and help others.

It’s a great feel-good educational show that your little one will love!

Little Einsteins

Little Einsteins is definitely one of my favorites.

My son was drawn to it because it’s about little kids going on adventures in a cool ‘spaceship’ that can change shapes.

For me, it was because it includes classical music.

Introducing composers and their music in a fun way.

Hey Duggee

In Hey Duggee, your little one will learn so much.

Everything from learning to work together as a team, to cooking and cleaning, to music, and everything in between.

The show is centered around a group of ‘kids’ that, as they go through their ‘lessons’, will earn badges.

Sort of like scouts, how they earn badges.

Now, I’ll be honest, along with Floogals, a lot of these shows my almost 8-year-old still watches.

So not only are they great for toddlers, your slightly older kids might still love them 🙂

Educational Shows for Preschoolers and Older

These are the shows my son is currently into.

They are educational shows that vary from helping teach math, to animals, to science and everything in between!

Wild Kratts

This is by far my son’s favorite show.

If you have a child that is interested in animals this show is for you!

Talk about an educational show.

My son shares all the information he learns during these shows and it’s just amazing.

We also play twenty questions all the time, focused on animals.

Let me tell you, sometimes, I have to ask him if he knows this animal because of Wild Kratts.

When he says yes we have to tell him to just tell us the animal, lol, because we won’t know it.

Needless to say, we’ve learned a lot about animals.

And about new animals!

Nature Cat

Another great show about nature.

If they love Wild Kratts they will definitely enjoy Nature Cat.

Unlike Wild Kratts, which is an animation based on people, Nature Cat includes a cat, of course, a dog, a mouse, and a rabbit.

They are all friends, who adventure throughout the day learning new and interesting nature facts.

Odd Squad

Odd Squad is the perfect educational show for kids, especially ones that need help with math, or just love math.

The concept – kids run and are agents of a government agency that solve ‘odd’ problems.

Math concepts are brought up and explained throughout each episode with visuals and wording.

The characters are fun, and still, kid-like – you’re little one won’t even realize they’re learning!

Team Umizoomi

This one is another great one for math skills.

Your little one will get plenty of practice learning their shapes, counting, and even measuring.

It’s a brother and sister team that also includes a robot.

They live in a place called Umi City and they go on fun adventures to help others that are in the city.

Go Jetters

Go Jetters is great for learning about different cultures and geography.

It’s a group of 4 heroes that go around the world saving different landmarks and cultural places from a bad guy named Glitch.

Color by number coloring pages. Travel themed. 25 pages. Be ready for your next trip with the kids. Only $6.97 buy now.

Super Wings

This one is also great for learning about different cultures.

In this show, though, it’s a group of transforming flying vehicles that travel around the world delivering packages to kids.

It’s super cute and a great way to introduce the world to your little ones.

Octonauts

Based in the ocean, Octonauts will have your little ones learning all about underwater life.

They’ll watch an 8 member team of explorers travel around the ocean, assisting and helping whenever and wherever there is trouble.

Blaze and the Monster Machines

Blaze is a monster machine who adventures with his driver, AJ.

Not only will your little one get to practice their math skills, they will also get introduced to engineering and even science.

In Conclusion

There you have it!

Whether you want to introduce your little one to some great educational shows or you just want to know your kids are not just watching a show, these eleven will put you at ease.

Trust me, you won’t regret it!
