Gratitude

From Oxford:

The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

So simply by following the definition, we can start our journey towards how to practice gratitude.

How To Practice Gratitude

Be Thankful

Are you thankful for things in your life?

The big things?

How about all the little things?

Every day there are things to be thankful for, right?

Take a few seconds right now and think of two things you’re thankful for.

Show appreciation

Do you thank the people around you for the little things that they do?

The person who holds the door open for you?

When another driver lets you in?

A family member when they take care of a chore or something that just needs to be taken care of?

Showing a little kindness can do wonders for people.

And that leads us to…

Be Kind

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.

This has become one of my favorite quotes.

It’s such a good daily reminder that, although we may be going through a rough time, that others are going through their own tough times too.

We need to learn how to not only be kind to others but maybe more importantly because it will ‘trickle down’, be kind to ourselves!!!!

Give yourself grace.

Write it down

Every night write down 3 things you’re grateful for.

No matter how big or small!

Being grateful for the green light getting to that appointment.

Hearing your favorite song on the radio.

Or just being able to enjoy a good meal or movie.

Every morning, before getting out of bed, think of 3 things you’re grateful for.

You have all you need to practice gratitude daily!
