What do you love?
Are you in love? Do you want to be?
There are so many ideas and definitions on love out there that it’s crazy. And what it means to you will be different than what it means to the person next to you.
Do you think of it in terms of material things? Flowers, cards, your car, your shoes, your jewelry.
Do you think of it in terms of physical affection? Hugs, kisses, cuddling.
Do you think of it in terms of words? Needing to hear the words “I love you”, getting a card that says all the right things.
Whichever one best suits you, and this is not all the ways love can be defined, know that the people around you will more than likely have a different one than you.
But that’s one thing that makes life great, right? We are all different in the way we love and that is awesome! Confusing to be sure but awesome.
Embrace how you love. Embrace how those around you love.
Share your love with others. Whether it’s simply giving a smile or a pat on the back.
Or, if you know someone in your life well enough, try to give them love the way they think of it. Meaning, I am more of an affectionate person. I feel like a hug, a pat on the back is how I show love. While a friend of mine is more of a material person. Giving flowers, cards, gifts is how she shows her love. So instead of me giving her a hug I would give her a gift of some sort.
So through all this, there is something else I’d like you to remember. Love yourself. I know that can be hard for some of us to do sometimes and let me fill you in on a little secret. That’s normal! But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t love ourselves, or at least try – on a daily basis!
