Are you looking for some fun preschool writing activities for your little one that will help reinforce what they are learning in school. Well, I’ve got 7 great tools that are simple, easy and can be reused over, and over, and over again 😉

My little guy who is 3 1/2 is learning and practicing his writing skills.

Recently, at his preschool, his class did a project that involved drawing a face.

I was trying not to judge my son to other’s in his class but it was very interesting to see everyone’s different abilities.

This is all to say that every little one learns at different rates and in their own ways and as much as we want them to know everything immediately we have to give them time to learn.

And what better way than with some great tools that they will have fun using but will totally be encouraging their writing skills.

We’ve been in love with a few different writing learning tools over the last several months and wanted to share them with you and your little ones.

Not only will they help your little one practice their writing skills they will also have lots of fun doing it 🙂

What you need to start encouraging early writing activities with your preschooler

First let me say, and I’ll fully admit that it’s been a learning process for me too, that writing begins with just drawing!

And I don’t mean anything specific. I mean just lines, scribbles, arches, points on a paper are all the beginning processes of your child learning to write.

I just counted, 23 out of 26 of our letters use some sort of a straight line!

So first, it started with this awesome Crayola Dry Erase Activity Center!

Crayola Dry Erase Activity Center

It comes with four pens, an eraser and several pages to start playing with!

Since it already comes with several activity pages, it’s a great starting place for early writing activities for your preschooler. But, since my mom is a former daycare director, we got additional workbooks to be able to broaden our practice and fun 🙂 .

Additional Preschool Name Writing Activities

Pairing the crayola activity center with these different workbooks really has just been amazing.

Not only does it give you a variety in terms of what skills you’ll be able to work on but also not having to repeat a page for a good bit.

Another great thing about these books, their pages tear out.

So yes, they are the perfect pairing to the Crayola Activity Center.

The Activity Center comes with a clear folder that can hold several pages and will help slid them into the activity center easier.

We personally make copies of the pages so that the book will stay whole but that’s just our preference.

Either way, know that you might end up with plenty of loss leaf papers around to wrangle.

Big Preschool Workbook.

Check out this Preschool edition! It is big and it has so many great activities inside you won’t be disappointed 🙂

We ended up buying additional dry erase markers for a trip we were taking. This way he had more than just 4 colors to chose from. We ended up getting a bunch that were chisel tip and I feel like they were harder to work with.

I personally would suggest a pack with a medium tip and multi colors like you can see below.

This way, when there is a simple coloring activity, for example, coloring in a flower scene, they can use different colors for the sky, petals, leaves, grass, etc..

Or, when there is a color by numbers you’ll have more ability to do so!

And there are several in this Numbers & Concepts workbook!

Another great workbook we recently got  was this Reading Readiness workbook.

Spectrum Reading Readiness Workbook.

And if these aren’t portable enough for you we found awesome alphabet activity flash cards.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find the exact set we have but here is an activity pack that’s extremely similar.

Alphabet Activity Flash Cards.

They are wipe off cards so they can practice and practice as much as you need. Or you could simply use them as traditional flash cards.

We’ve had a LeapFrog system for awhile now but it hasn’t been until recently that my little guy seems to enjoy it more and gets more involved in it.

It’s also been a great independent play activity for him.

With all the different books you can get to supplement what already comes with it, you can’t go wrong. They have several that include characters from their favorite cartoons like PJ Masks and Paw Patrol 🙂 Which never hurts the learning process!

I hope this gives you some great ideas to add to your list of items that will help you help your little one with practicing their writing skills!

Do you use any of these tools? Which one do you like the best? Please share with us in the comments below! Thanks.
