How To Stay Focused on Your Goal

So you have a goal.

Whether it’s to write a school paper.

Exercise.

Or how about cleaning up the house?

It’s so very easy to get distracted by everything else and not stay focused on your goal, right?

Do you find yourself playing a game(s) on your phone?

Are you endlessly scrolling through your favorite social media app?

Did you know that the average person spends nearly two (2) hours a day on social media?

That’s average, which means that some of us spend much more than that per day.

I personally find myself having spent an hour at times just watching one more video, or reading one more post.

Sound familiar?

Then when you think about it, what could you have been doing that would have been much more productive?

Yup, you could be well into the school paper, finished your workout, or done cleaning that one part of the house!

That’s where these apps come in.

There are several options to choose from so you should easily be able to find one that suits you.

Also, a lot of them can be synched between multiple devices so that no matter what you happen to be doing you can have the app at hand to help you get and stay focused on your goal(s).

Freedom

  • Works on all devices (ex: Apple, Android, Mac, and Chrome).
  • Free (as of writing this post in Nov. 2022) for seven (7) sessions before you need to upgrade to the premium to continue to use it.

This app is so cool!

The concept is that you can block websites and apps so that at specific times/days you can’t access them even when you try.

You won’t have that distraction during that time period so you can stay focused on your goal!

Not only that but it also has the option to play music that will aid in focusing.

Did I mention you can have it programmed to sync between all your devices?

Talk about a great app to really be a helping hand.

Stay Focused

  • Works on Android, Apple, and as a Google extension.
  • Free with the option to upgrade to Pro for full access to features.

Similar to Freedom except that this one allows you to include keywords that you might search for that might distract you from focusing.

The one thing it doesn’t have is an option to have music playing during your distraction-free time.

It does have a nice dashboard where you can keep track of how you’re doing and where you can improve in staying more focused!

Forest: Focus for Productivity

  • Works on Android and Windows (for free as far as I could tell), and Apple products (for a small one-time fee)

This app uses a timer/ stopwatch feature to help you stay focused on your goals.

The fun thing about this app is that as you use it and stay focused it will ‘plant’ a tree for you (one of many that you can choose from).

Focus To-Do

  • Works on Android, Windows, and Apple products

Focus To-Do states it’s a science-based app that will help you finish projects and be motivated to stay focused on your goal.

It allows you to use a timer and has task management features to help you complete projects.

With reminders, white noise, and the chance to help grow a plant, you’ll find this app exactly what you need to stay focused on your goals.

StayFree- Stay Focused

  • Works on Android and has extensions on Firefox and Chrome.

StayFree will help you better understand what apps you spend time on and for how long.

Not only that it will allow you to restrict how much time you spend on those apps to better help you stay focused on those goals!

You can also set alerts to let you know when you’ve reached the limits you’ve set for yourself for certain apps so you can see exactly how much time you spending (wasting) time on apps that are not helping you be productive.

And there you have it.

5 apps that will help you stay focused on your goal!
