I recently had a blood test.  

It had been about three years.  

My cholesterol back then was not good!

Like about 260….. it’s supposed to be under 200. 

Since then I’ve lost about 60 lbs so I was really curious to see what it would be this time.  

Now, both my parents have high cholesterol and have been on medication for it since I can remember.  

I really don’t like the idea of having to get on medication if I don’t have to do needless to say I was thrilled when I got the results back and it dropped down to 211!! 

I was so proud of myself.  

My doctor didn’t even say anything except that it was so good it’s dropped that much.  

She didn’t mention medication either but I decided I should do what I can to try and lower it to the ‘healthy’ range.  

That meant doing some research.  

Reasons to try Plant-based recipes

Lower Cholesterol

I found out that eating more plant-based foods would help either lower the bad cholesterol (LDL) and/or raise the good (HDL). 

I figured I’d give it a shot and see if it moves the points in the right direction.  

The research I did showed eating less red meats and more beans was a good place to start.  

Finding recipes was OK but this is an awesome book of recipes to get you started without all the work.  

Feel Healthier

So not only will eating more of a plant-based diet help lower cholesterol, but it’ll also help you feel healthier.

I know for myself, that when I eat healthily I just feel lighter, healthier.

Knowing I’m doing something good for my body and my mind really helps brighten my mood 🙂

Lose Weight

So, I still have a few pounds I’d love to lose and I know that eating more plants will help me accomplish that.

And even if it doesn’t, I know I’m still helping my body be healthier.

Switching even a meal here and there throughout your week to a plant-based meal can help you accomplish your weight loss goals.

Now I don’t know about you but these meals look fantastic.

A lot of the recipes are simple and have ingredients you probably already have at home.

And if not, they should be easy to find at your local health market, even at your local grocery store.

Or, If you’re like me, you can probably substitute or even skip some of the ingredients to use what you already have.
