Me neither, really.
As much as I love to travel, I never knew so many different types of world maps existed.
Over the last few months, I’ve been introduced to a few new and very cool ones.
And wanted to share them with you and give you a little inspiration 🙂
For example, on my son’s last birthday, we received this long thin box at our doorstep from my brother.
It arrived early and so it sat and sat until his birthday.
I could not for the life of me figure out what he had sent.
When we finally opened it I still couldn’t figure it out.
Inside was another cardboard holder that was long and cylindrical.
I opened it and found my new favorite travel gift!
So let’s start off with the one my brother gave to my son:

World Maps for Travelers
Scratch Off World Map
This scratch-off world map is so completely awesome and one of the best world maps for travelers out there!
It came with a stylus of sorts to scratch off the foil, which is fantastic so you don’t have to be hunting for a coin but…. it is sharp so not exactly kid friendly!
Needless to say, I didn’t let my son have free reign to play with it but we did scratch off a little bit of the map just to see what was underneath.
Under the foil was, well, I’m going to let you experience that for yourself 🙂
Encourage yourself to travel!
Push Pin World Map
My grandfather had one of these push pin world maps and I thought it was the coolest.
The concept is simple.
Use push pins to mark everywhere in the world you have visited!
Have you ever walked into a restaurant or hotel and seen one of those maps where they ask everyone to mark on the map where they are from so that everyone can see ‘who’ all has eaten/stayed there?
Why not have one in your own home but be able to mark all the fabulous places you’ve been.
And here’s a thought, especially if you’re just starting out on your traveling adventures.
Use one color push pin for the places you’ve been and a different color for the places you want to go!

Oh wow! These are all so beautiful! I love the wall map! And the push pin map is lovely. We have a Cultural Market here every weekend and they have a huge push pin map where everyone is encouraged to put a pin from where they’re from. It’s wonderful! And such a great idea to incorporate into your own home to keep track of your travels. Thanks for the inspiration!
